Yoga Bio

Latifa Befanis was raised with an awareness of natural health and awakened her curiousity of yoga concepts at an early age.

Latifa has always had a great passion and love for the holistic healing arts since she was a teenager. Still to this day she considers herself to be a bit of a wellness ‘junkie’, exploring many different areas of healing and mind-body. Latifa has been involved in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years, she started practicing yoga in 2006, her yoga journey progressed from Bikram yoga, Ahstanga, Vinyassa, power flow before finally she decided to undertake the 200 YTT at the world reknowned Kripalu School – “Kripalu” means being compassionate in Sanskrit, the language of the yoga tradition.

At Kripalu, Latifa signed up on a training that has been in existence for more than 30 years, and had fallen in love with yoga. She is very proud of her accomplishments for the last 5 years.

Latifa  is registered with The Yoga Alliance. She has a unique ability to help students move from discomfort or pain into a space of calm and relief. One of her favorite parts of teaching yoga is guiding students through the release of tension in the body while showing the students how to align joints with awareness as well as leading meditation to help her students reconnect with their spirituality.
Classes taught by Latifa are anatomically and spiritually inspired and largely based on the needs of her students. She always offers modifications in her classes and because of her experience in the medical field, she is very comfortable working with students suffering from injuries or illnesses.

I have done several yoga sessions with Latifa and she was wonderful and gentle. She was very concerned and informative about everyone during every session and made sure I did each pose correctly so there was no injury and I got the full benefits of her yoga class. There has been a significant difference for the good, in the way I feel since I have started her yoga classes. I feel great!
